1 sliced banana
½ cup frozen blueberries and blackberries
½ cup or less kale
¼ cup sprouts
1 stalk celery
1 inch ginger
1 tsp raw honey
Put everything in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Use whatever veggies and fruit you like!
I discovered that kale and anything with seeds need to be VERY WELL BLENDED otherwise your smoothie will feel gritty and will need to be chewed more than a smoothie should. Also it is important to balance the savory flavors with the sweet, lots of raw ginger and cayenne can make for a strong flavor when you are expecting something kinda sweet and balanced. Know your taste buds and prepare accordingly.
We can ALL use a bit more raw leafy greens in our diet (the thing that we are missing most in our American diet) and so smoothies can be a great way to get lots of minerals and nutrients into our diet without needing to cook or prepare them. Smoothies are also a simple way to get a complete meal on the go! Get creative to figure out what you like!
